Ok…give me a break!! I know it’s been more than a minute since my last post. I can also promise that will happen again!! That being said, summer break has ended and we had a pretty good time!! We went to visit a cave that had a boat tour, a state park with a pioneer village, an aquarium, an actual mall with escalators (it was a first and pretty big deal for my kids) and a train ride, went to a few different fairs, a rodeo, went hiking, played in the creek, played at the park, saw a fox twice (and a featherless chicken for his presence), grew a pretty shabby garden, harvested some herbs, saw a doe and baby (again on our property), camped, had a few good nights around the fire, laughed, loved (maybe just a few days I wasn’t so sure the kids wouldn’t kill each other), my son and I both learned to bale hay (with our new-to-us tractor) getting a pretty incredible alfalfa crop, and there’s more but it will have to wait!! It was a jam-packed summer!!!!
So, now on to the business end. I didn’t get a lot of projects done that I wanted. We didn’t start our house projects yet like we had planned. I did take a job I hadn’t planned and that starts next week. I want to give you a heads up that I plan to post a toddler craft once a week for next several months. I know a lot of my subscribers maybe have no interest in that, so I’m going to try to get my subscriptions where you can pick the categories you want to subscribe to (Please don’t leave me!).
The garden stuff is out for this season but I’m going to start building projects again. With any luck, over the next few months I will finish my herb pages, and have a whole crop of tutorials along the way. All I can hope for now is that I can continue this for a while longer. My internet doesn’t work 40% of the time (wouldn’t you know it’s the same times I actually have time to use it), and when it does for whatever reason this stupid site is giving me errors when I try to upload pics…so I’m trying. Who knows how long my hubby will pay for a service you can’t use half the time, though!!! So for now we’ll keep chuggin, or more like start chuggin again, and just go on with a little faith.
When I was looking through pics earlier I came on this seemingly gross one…
The twins were in the bath splashing everywhere so I closed the curtain, and was wiping down counters and things while they played. They were sure having fun!! Finally I asked, “What on earth is so funny in there?” My daughter held her hand out the side of the curtain and said, “We’re playing poop pile!” I looked at the brown clump in her hand and just about lost it!! I ripped the curtain open and yanked them both out….oh. There were little brown bits everywhere in the water and I’m freaking out, “Who pooped in the tub? Why didn’t you tell Mommy? I’m right here!” Neither would admit to it. My daughter very calmly and almost sounding confused responded, “We didn’t. We’re just playing poop pile.” I’m trying to get out all the toys just so I could see what I’m dealing with and it’s almost too much for me. I was really grossed out! My daughter wouldn’t quit talking. She went on and on in the background, “We just got the poop…put it in hands…and…” Then I saw it…the last recognizable shred of a toilet paper roll!! When I pulled it out my daughter was so excited and screamed, “Yeah! That’s the poop thing!!” They had been ripping off tiny pieces of the soggy roll and patting them together to make their little “piles”. I promptly put them back in them tub and directed them that every last little bit better be collected and none go down the drain. They did it. My daughter was funny just in her confusion about why I would be upset. My son was funny because while he was the one that was having the most fun before I opened the curtain, from that point on he didn’t say a word. He just watched me with this sort of blank but worried stare to see how it was all going to turn out. My daughter and my oldest are like that. If they don’t think they did anything wrong, you won’t get them to be quiet until you understand fully and completely their version of how it all went down. The youngest must be learning from them that it’s maybe not best to argue with mom…just shut up and stay low until its over. I’m glad I snapped a pic of one of their creations!
