We made it through the pool installation and quickly decided we needed some pool toy storage! The kids talked me into a trip to our local Dollar Tree and we invested in some toys to fill the pool (really…it’s not all that big so just a few floats seem a bit much). That led to the next item on the docket…find some storage!!! My mom has a large deep freeze that she uses for her pool toy storage, so we went up to inspect the one that’s been sitting in front of my barn for
way too long. I originally talked my junking friend out of this because I wanted to bury it for potato storage, but the lid had been damaged and water leaks in. So, we headed up to the barn to inspect it for our new purpose. We decided with a few holes in the bottom (inside) it would be fine. So back to the house. We spray painted it an aqua blue color, the top grey, then smacked some handprints on it….we even got Dad to play! Tada!
My oldest did ask me why everything’s hand-prints with me here lately (we’ve done two things in like 6 months). I spared him the tears and hugs of explaining that my babies are just growing so fast and I’ve got to hang on to them anyway I can…. etc…and just said, “I’m done for awhile, I promise!” I used acrylic paint on this though, and even though I bought a can of clear spray paint to seal it, I didn’t use it. What’s the worse that can happen? We get to do it again if it starts peeling? Turns out if you take the painting outside there’s no stress…lesson learned! So there you have it. That old deep freeze is out of the way of the barn (finally) and we have new pool toy storage!
